Purdue Pharma deploys AskMe across Discovery Research to increase speed of R&D

AskMe Corporation, the leading provider of Expertise Management software solutions, announced today that Purdue Pharma has deployed AskMe Enterprise to support its Discover Research initiatives in the R&D division. AskMe's award-winning technology facilitates employee collaboration, knowledge capture and re-use.

Founded in 1892, Purdue Pharma has over 3000 employees in the U.S. with sales close to $2 billion. With a strong focus on expanding discovery capabilities in biologic and antibody-based therapies, leveraging the knowledge network is at the crux of Purdue's research efforts. AskMe's pilot EKN for Purdue Pharma, internally called Eureka, launched in September 2003. The goal for the pilot was to reduce time spent by researchers in seeking information and to nurture innovation by connecting researchers across different disciplines.

The pilot results exceeded expectations. Employees made successful connections with their colleagues using the comprehensive profiles developed through a combination of AskMe Enterprise's extensible profile and auto-profiling capabilities. The number of solutions re-used surpassed the goal by 220%, indicating a reduction in re-work among participants in the pilot group.

Udai Shekawat, CEO of AskMe Corporation says, "AskMe and Purdue Pharma share the same vision for connecting employees and providing them knowledge on demand. AskMe is very excited to work with Purdue Pharma to realize this vision."
