Clarica Life Insurance Selects AskMe Enterprise Knowledge Sharing Solution

SEATTLE, December 18, 2000 - Clarica Life Insurance Company, one of Canada's largest insurers and a recognized leader in the life insurance marketplace, announced today the selection of AskMe Enterprise™ as the knowledge sharing platform for Clarica's North American operations. AskMe Enterprise, a corporate-wide knowledge sharing solution, will allow Clarica's staff and agents to easily identify other staff with expertise in specific areas, to ask questions of these experts, and to automatically capture exchanges of knowledge in a searchable knowledgebase.

"The AskMe knowledge sharing technology allows us to instantly tap into the collective knowledge of more than 7,300 staff and agents to solve business problems, giving us the ability to deliver a level of customer service that is unprecedented in the insurance industry," said Hubert Saint-Onge, Senior Vice President of Strategic Capabilities for Clarica Life Insurance. "With AskMe, we can stay abreast of the increasingly sophisticated needs of our clients and develop investment and insurance solutions that meet those needs in a much faster time frame."

AskMe Enterprise's knowledge - sharing solution identifies and catalogues employees' experiential knowledge - knowledge residing in their minds - in a corporate knowledgebase where it can be easily accessed by employees and others. Using a Web browser or an e-mail system, employees can identify company experts and ask questions pertaining to company procedures, best practices, and other business issues. When selecting experts, employees can review an expert's title, job function, qualifications, previous answers, and ratings from other users. When a question is asked, the expert receives an e-mail notification about the question. The expert then answers the question, attaches any relevant files, documents or links, and sends the answer. The answer is automatically stored in a knowledgebase for immediate access by other employees.

"Corporations today realize that the collective knowledge of their employees is one of their most lucrative assets. With AskMe Enterprise, this knowledge can be transformed into an overwhelming competitive advantage," said Udai Shekawat, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of AskMe Corporation. "AskMe Enterprise has been tested by millions of users, and features an easy-to-use interface and modular design that allows companies to have a knowledge sharing solution up and running in less than one month."
