Procter & Gamble enhances innovation by purchasing another installment of AskMe Enterprise

SEATTLE, July 16, 2001 - AskMe Corporation, the leading provider of enterprise knowledge sharing solutions, today announced that The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG) has purchased a second installment of AskMe Enterprise™ to further increase the value of Innovation Net, the company's largest intranet site, by facilitating greater employee collaboration and enabling more consumer-driven innovation.

Innovation Net (INET) reaches 18,000 key knowledge workers at Procter & Gamble in departments such as R&D, Engineering, Purchasing, Consumer & Market knowledge, Patent/Legal and Business Information Systems. AskMe Enterprise has been integrated into the intranet's framework to locate, catalogue, transfer and maintain employee knowledge. "A second purchase of AskMe Enterprise by one of the world's largest consumer products company is another indicator that large organizations are making significant investments in knowledge sharing solutions. We believe this proves that AskMe's solution is clearly the best in its category", said Udai Shekawat, CEO for AskMe Corporation.

The capture and sharing of internal knowledge is becoming increasingly important to large corporations. According to a study by The Delphi Group, nearly 88 percent of a company's knowledge resides in the minds of its employees. But most companies lack an efficient system that enables them to tap into that knowledge in ways that provide a strong return on investment.

"With AskMe Enterprise, corporations such as P&G are able to see results quickly," Shekawat said. "Large corporations have recognized that constantly re-inventing the wheel is inefficient and slows important processes and hence, negatively affects the bottom-line. With AskMe, companies are creating a giant knowledgebase that can be accessed instantly throughout an organization."

Once AskMe Enterprise is integrated into a corporate Intranet such as Innovation Net, employees can identify qualified individuals with relevant expertise, submit questions or business problems to individuals and receive solutions from colleagues in order to take immediate and effective actions. Answers and solutions that are transferred via AskMe Enterprise are captured in a knowledgebase so other employees can reuse them in the future.
